Project
gb agency, Paris
Until 19 December, 2020
Reconciling art history, science and popular culture,Yannick Langlois’ artistic practice develops around a set of forms that question our relationship to objects, their uses and their representations.
For his project at gb agency, the artist proposes to work from a personal collection of decorative and functional objects having in common their representation of animals or plants. In doing so, he interrogates the gaps between forms of domestication and the different mystifications that frame our uses of the term “nature”.
Yannick Langlois has a dual training as an artist and exhibition curator, since 2016 he has also been a research artist at the Beaux-Arts de Paris as part of the SACRe doctoral research program.
Breeze is a cycle of short exhibitions that we have proposed to young artists of the French scene. Until March, their proposals will punctuate the program of the gallery. These practices, however singular, confront the exhibition space, a necessary place of exchange that, in our present context, seems to be disembodied.
Yannick Langlois’ Nature Secret of Life is the first of the exhibitions from this ongoing project.
