Screening including the work of Paul Heintz
La Galerie CAC Noisy-le-Sec, Noisy-le-Sec
March 25, 2023
The death of Mahsa Amini, a young Kurdish woman killed by the vice police on September 16, 2022, triggered a protest movement that took over every city in Iran. Many Iranian women took to the streets, supported by men, to shout their anger at the regime and the law established since the 1979 Islamic revolution. All of them demanded more freedom, including the end of the compulsory veil, and profound changes in the country.
From March 8, 2023, on the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, La Galerie, centre d’art contemporain de Noisy-le-Sec alongside art centers and cultural institutions across France, among which le Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris and le Palais de Tokyo, together show their support for Iranian women and men, by covering their facades and interior spaces with posters from social networks and the Instagram account @iranianwomenofgraphicdesign produced at the occasion of specific events.
