Science, Fiction, Regard sur la collection IAC

Group show with the work of Dove Allouche
Centre d’art et de rencontres Curiox, Ugine
September 24, 2022 - March 4, 2023

The dog is a pet par excellence. He is the protagonist of a particular story where, freed by the inaction of sleep, he dreams of a cosmic odyssey, via the Moon, with plants on board. This natural satellite occupies a place comparable to that of the dog with the Earth. The cosmic escape is not without evoking the abandonment of an ecologically collapsed planet. In the same way, the plants collected and consigned on board could suggest a museum of condemned plant species.

These few lines outline part of the story of the forty-minute slide show that Suzanne Lafont entitled Science, fiction and that she produced between 2020 and 2021.

This work draws the thread of the exhibition, within the architecture of Claude Fay. The Sacré-Coeur des Fontaines church, erected in 1957, was deconsecrated at the end of the 1990s. The radical modernity of this prism-shaped building retains a spiritual dimension even when stripped of its religious aspect. It houses a group of works from the IAC collection which, in light of the future scenarios created by global warming, question our awareness of our relative place on the surface of the earth.

With works from the collection of the L’institut d’art contemporain, Villeurbanne/Rhône-Alpes by : Dove Allouche, Alighiero Boetti, Ismaïl Bahri, Robert Barry, Loïc Blairon, Maurice Blaussyld, Daniel Gustav Cramer, Rodney Graham, Suzanne Lafont, Lucas Léglise, Laurent Montaron, Evariste Richer, Olve Sande, Ettore Spalletti, Anaëlle Vanel.
