Mark Geffriaud at CPIF, Pontault-Combault

Group exhibition
Centre Photographique of Ile-de-France
May 7 - July 13, 2014

The CPIF presents the group show ‘A l’envers, à l’endroit…’ where two pieces by Mark Geffriaud entitled If one were only an Indian / for Susan and If one were only an Indian / looking forward are exhibited.

This group exhibition explores the third dimension of the image, its face down, its folds and hollows, real or symbolic; an outfield yet / already there, which could escape from the representation that contains information, fictional or plastic unsuspected potential. The collected works are wobbling the fixity of perspective, posture observation and propose to upset the order of things; nothing is fixed, as a beat.
While, in common usage, photographs often result in a “cloud” form (stored in the form of encrypted data in files, they rarely update beyond the screen perimeter) the artists invited by the CPIF considering photoprinting not as a simple surface, but question the photographic image and its support as an object.
From several generations, these artists return, move processes, procedures and attitudes allowed the images production, and upset the habits of receipt. Enrich their research reflexive approaches to the medium, whereas in the field of theoretical research, the definitions of “the” photography is evolving.
