Back in 2006 Narkevicius had proposed to deposit a head portrait of Karl Marx from Chemnitz to Mümster for the duration of Skulptur Projekte 07 exhibition. The proposal was accepted and approved by curatorial team of Skulptur Projekte 07 and an official letter was issued addressing the Mayor office of the city of Chemnitz in order to get a permission to transport the sculpture by Lev Efimovich Kerbel to Münster for the summer months of 2007. After the exhibition ended, the monument would be restored in it’s original place in former Karl-Marx-Stadt. For the period of absence of the monument in Chemnitz there were some artistic activities scheduled by the director of local Kunstverein in the square at the place of missing sculpture. After long awaited answer, unfortunately the negative response, from the Mayor of city of Chemnitz the project could not go ahead and has not been realized in its initial form. This decision has created a public debate in German press weather the Monument had to be deposited to Muenster for the duration of Sculpture Projects or not. Some excerpts from local newspapers on this subject, reflecting the discussion, were edited into a poster, which was exhibited at the same space next to the video installation ‘The Head’.
