Equivalent Economies and Equivalent Means, 2018

Equivalent Economies and Equivalent Means consists of a standard functional vending machine stocked with approximately 150 rounded stones found by the artist’s children on a beach near his Suffolk home separated and organised in ascending order according to size. Displayed in A1 is a single bundle of 100 euro banknotes totalling 10.000 euros. All items can be purchased for a single sum of 9.999,999 euros, using the machine’s card paying system. Part of the vending machine’s display uses the font Set in Stone, a useable font designed by the artist and produced by Adrien Vasquez of John Morgan Studio, based on a collection of stones found on a beach by the artist’s children.
