By All Accounts This Was A Very Ordinary Man, 2018
Soap, ordinary man, clichés
14 + 7 hours
An ordinary man inconspicuously roams the gallery, slowly dismantling a bar of soap. Staging how clichés, fake news and banality creep into language and life through a reification of communication, the work coats the gallery in stickiness and smell. Created at an unprecedented political moment, in which reality felt degraded, the work assumes this degradation, and its spread into the global atmosphere, at the level of language.
