Omer Fast

Omer Fast was born in Jerusalem in 1972, he lives and works in Berlin.

For many years, Omer Fast constructed his narratives from the recording of factual elements and fictional developments. His video montages incorporate the different media filters produced by our society, thus underscoring the ambiguity of the narrator’s role. Writing and montage enable him to shift from the collective to the personal, from documentary to fiction, and from politics to art forms. His subjective recordings are isolated, the editing remixes stories to melt them into one. Fast can’t make himself speak in just one voice: his poetry comes from the visual fragmentation and tension in the text. The distortions and breaks are where the viewer can play a role. Omer Fast realised in 2015 his first feature length film titled ‘Remainder’, an original work based on an adaptation of Tom McCarthy’s novel of the same name.
